The Team Sealed $20K event is an open entry event where participants play in teams of three player for their share of a $20,000 prize pool. Teams receive 12 Draft Boosters of Streets of Capenna to build three decks.

How it works

The Team Sealed $20K event is an open entry event where participants play in teams of three player for their share of a $20,000 prize pool. Teams receive 12 Draft Boosters of Streets of Capenna to build three (3) decks.

SCG CON Team $20K Event Structure

  • Three player teams
    • Seats (A, B, C) are assigned during registration. Player B will be seated in the middle.
    • Decks and sideboard cards are assigned to individual players during build. Saturday - Beginning at 9:00 am
  • Teams receive twelve (12) Draft Boosters of Streets of New Capenna to build three (3) decks, one (1) for each player. All cards must be assigned to a player or they may not be used. These decks will be used for the eight (8) rounds of Day 1.
  • Eight (8) Swiss rounds on Saturday, April 30th, 2022
  • The Top 20 teams, and all teams with 18 or more match points (6+ wins), advance to Day 2 Sunday - Beginning at 9:00 am
  • Teams qualifying for Day 2 will receive twelve (12) new Draft Boosters of Streets of New Capenna to build three (3) decks, one (1) for each player. All cards must be assigned to a player or they may not be used. These decks will be used for the four (4) rounds of Day 2 and for the first round of the playoffs if the team qualifies.
  • Four (4) Swiss rounds on Sunday, May 1st, 2022
  • Top six (6) teams advance to a three (3) round single elimination playoff
  • First Playoff Round is played with Day 2 Sealed Decks
  • 1st and 2nd ranked teams receive a bye in the first playoff round
  • In the Top 4, teams will Team Draft against their opponent and play one (1) round of best of three (3) matches. The first team to win two matches will advance for the finals.
  • In the Finals, the last two teams will Team Draft against each other and play one (1) round of best of three (3) matches. The first team to win two matches will be crowned the champion.

Registration

  • One player registers for the Team and enters information for their teammates.
  • Registration for all events at SCG CON will close 10 minutes prior to each event.
  • Players who enter the event after the event has begun will be enrolled with a Loss for their first round.
  • Players must have their Wizards Account Email in their Melee.gg profile in order to enroll.

Decklists

  • Card pools will be opened by the team and then registered by another team at the start of the event.
  • Decklists will be filled out during the build portion of the event at the start of each day.
  • All cards in the pool must be registered on a deck list or else they cannot be used by any player.

For paper printouts generated for this tournament, participants' names will be displayed using their full real names, irrespective of their profile's name display settings. This specification applies solely to printed materials.

All SCG CON tournaments will be run according to the Tournament Rules for their respective game systems:

Pairings

  • Pairings for SCG CON events will be available either on the Magic: The Gathering Companion App, on Paper in the event hall, or in your Profile on the Flesh and Blood offical website.
  • It is each Player's sole responsibility to find their pairings and report to their matches for the beginning of each round of their events.

Matches

  • Round length will be determined by event type for every event at SCG CON.
  • It is the responsibility of the winner of any given match to ensure that the result is reported and recorded correctly. However if either player notices a discrepancy between the actual result of the match, and the reported match result, they must bring the error to the attention of a tournament official immediately.

Eligibility

  • Players must have accounts in good standing on MTG Melee and Star City Games.
  • Players must not be currently suspended from participating in/on tabletop Magic: The Gathering events, SCG Tour Online events and/or tabletop Star City Games events.
  • Regional eligibility restrictions also apply, void where prohibited.

Saturday, April 30th - Day One

  • 8:45 am: Registration closes
  • 9:00am: Players' Meeting for Deck Registration and Build
  • ~11:00 am - ~9:00 pm: Eight (8) Swiss rounds
  • The Top 20 teams, and all teams with 18 or more match points (6+ wins), advance to Day 2.

Sunday, May 1st - Day Two

  • 8:45 am: Registration closes
  • 9:00am: Players' Meeting for Deck Registration and Build
  • ~11:00 am - ~4:00 pm: Four (4) Swiss rounds
  • Top six (6) teams advance to a three (3) round single elimination playoff

Playoff Round One:

  • Played with Day 2 Sealed Decks
  • 1st and 2nd ranked teams receive a bye

Top 4

  • Teams Team Draft against the opposing team.
  • Teams play one (1) round of best of three (3) matches.
  • The first team to win two matches advance for the finals.

Finals

  • The final two teams Team Draft against each other
  • Teams play one (1) round of best of three (3) matches
  • The first team to win two matches is crowned the champion.

The organizer has agreed to pay out prizes in 30 days or less.

$20,100 Prize Pool

Prizes per Team:

  • 1st: $6,000.00
  • 2nd: $3,600.00
  • 3rd-4th: $1,800.00
  • 5th-6th: $1,350.00
  • 7th-8th: $900.00
  • 9th-12th: $600.00

In order to receive cash prizes from a Star City Games event, players must have a current, signed, and dated tax form on file with Star City Games. If you have not submitted a tax form with up to date information to Star City Games, or are unsure about the status of your tax form, please check in with us at the event to fill one out.
