The $20K RCQ - Team Constructed event is an open entry, two-day event where teams participate for their share of a $20,100 prize pool and the players on the Top 4 teams qualify for the Regional Championship at SCG CON Washington DC on October 4-6, 2024.

How it works

The $20K RCQ - Team Constructed event is an open entry, two-day event where teams participate for their share of a $20,100 prize pool and the players on the Top 4 teams qualify for the Regional Championship at SCG CON Washington DC on October 4-6, 2024.

SCG CON $20K RCQ - Team Constructed Event Structure

  • Teams of three players - Seat A (Modern), Seat B (Pioneer), Seat C (Standard)
  • Day 1 - Eight (8) Rounds of Swiss
  • Teams with eighteen (18) or more match points advance to Day 2
  • Day 2 - Four (4) Rounds of Swiss
  • Cut to a Single Elimination Top 6
  • 1st and 2nd place teams receive a bye in the playoffs

Registration

  • Registration for all events at SCG CON will close 10 minutes prior to each event.
  • Teams who enter after the tournament has begun will be enrolled with a loss for their first round.
  • The registering player must have their Wizards Account Email in their Melee.gg profile in order to enroll.

Decklists

  • Decklists for all three players must be submitted through the Player Controller on Melee.gg.
  • Decklists are due prior to the start of the first round of the event.
  • Failure to submit a decklist on time will result in Tardiness penalties.

For paper printouts generated for this tournament, participants' names will be displayed using their full real names, irrespective of their profile's name display settings. This specification applies solely to printed materials.

All SCG CON tournaments will be run according to the Tournament Rules for their respective game systems:

Magic: the Gathering Tournament Rules

Pairings

  • Pairings for the $20K RCQ - Team Constructed event will be available to the registering player in the Melee.gg Player Controller and on Paper in the event hall.
  • It is each team's sole responsibility to find their pairings and report to their matches for the beginning of each round of their events.

Matches

  • Rounds for the $20K RCQ - Team Constructed will be 50 minutes.
  • It is the responsibility of the winner of any given match to ensure that the result is reported and recorded correctly.
  • If either player notices a discrepancy between the result of the match and the reported match result, they must bring the error to the attention of a tournament official immediately.

Eligibility

  • Players must have accounts in good standing on Melee and Star City Games.
  • Players must not be currently suspended from participating in Magic: The Gathering or Star City Games events.
  • Regional eligibility restrictions also apply, void where prohibited.

Registration closes at 9:50 am on Saturday

Day One:

  • Round one (1) begins at 10:00 am on Saturday
  • Eight (8) rounds of Swiss
  • All players with eighteen (18) or more match points will advance to Day Two.

Day Two:

  • Round nine (9) begins at 9:00 am on Sunday
  • Four (4) rounds of Swiss
  • Cut to a Top Six (12) team Single Elminiation Playoff
  • 1st and 2nd ranked teams after Swiss will recieve a bye in the Top 6 Playoff

The organizer has agreed to pay out prizes in 45 days or less.

$20,100 Prize Pool

  • 1st Place team: $6,000.00, Qualification for the Regional Championship at SCG CON Washington DC on October 4-6, 2024.
  • 2nd Place Team: $3,600.00, Qualification for the Regional Championship at SCG CON Washington DC on October 4-6, 2024.
  • 3rd - 4th Place Teams: $1,800.00, Qualification for the Regional Championship at SCG CON Washington DC on October 4-6, 2024.
  • 5th - 6th Place Teams: $1,350.00
  • 7th - 8th: $900.00
  • 9th - 12th: $600.00

Each member of a team receiving prizes will receive 1/3 of the team's prizes.

In order to receive cash prizes from a Star City Games event, each player must have a current, signed, and dated tax form on file with Star City Games. If you have not submitted a tax form with up to date information to Star City Games, or are unsure about the status of your tax form, please check in with us at the event to fill one out.
