Hi everybody,
Welcome to the tournament page for the Gentry weekly, a tournament series run exclusively on Arena.
This is a Gentry event. Gentry is a budget version of Standard that allows up to 4 one-of Rares and/or Mythics, and up to 15 uncommons. For power level reasons, Zenith Flare counts as Rare in Gentry. You can read more about the format and find some decklists on our website.
This is a free event
There are no prizes to be won at these events themselves, your result will be tracked on the Arena Leaderboard. At the end of the season, byes will be given to people who are in the lead. You can select your region here. You can find the leaderboard on Gentrymagic.com. Your region no longer makes a difference, it is only there as a cool way to show the international appeal of the format.
Every event in the Leaderboard series will be 4 rounds, regardless of the number of people actually in it. Considering this is an evening event during the week for most of its players, this is a guarantee that will never get changed.
All matches are to be played in the 'Tournament match' mode. When you challenge someone, do not forget to switch from 'Challenge Match' to 'Tournament match'. Your game will be played in an romanogreek Arena setting, if you have another backdrop, restart your match. You will have access to all players' decklists once the event has started. That means you will know what to expect. In round 1, we will give extra time to check if your opponent has a legal list. From then on you can check that they are playing what they listed.
Since this is a unique setting and there are very specific challenges and issues that need to be addressed, please find all measures below.
deck issues If you notice an issue with a deck, be it of yourself or an opponent, notify the organiser as soon as possible. Issues will be addressed as smoothly as possible. Common issues and their fix are the following:
I have less than 15 uncommons or 4 rares/mythics Your deck is legal, continue playing
I have more than 15 uncommons or 4 rares/mythics Remove down to 15/4, add basic lands for every card removed. This also goes when you have multiple copies of the same rare/mythic. You will never be allowed to add a card that is not a basic land after we have started.
My deck does not match my decklist This will always be a game loss followed by you correcting your deck unless there is reasonable doubt that you entered the incorrect list.
Connection issues You are taking responsibility for your internet connection. Only in case the TO notices a Arena server based issue, will match outcome be altered. This is to avoid people "disconnecting" to force a game to restart.
Tardiness The running of this event relies on people challenging eachother in game. For that reason, rounds will have a very strict timing. When round 1 starts, the starting time for round 2 will also be set and announced. From that announcement, you have 10 minutes to start a match with your opponent. If you are not in game after 10 minutes, contact the TO through the chat on MTGMelee or the live stream chat.
Bribery Offering something to another player in exchange for a draw or concession ruins the integrity of the tournament and will not be tolerated. If your opponent makes you such an offer, take a screenshot and send it to the TO. The penalty for this is Disqualification.
