How it works

The Regional Championship at SCG CON Washington DC is for players who qualified during Round 1 of Season 3 between April 20th-July 21st. Qualified players compete for $130,000 and invitations to the Pro Tour and World Championships.

Regional Championship Event Structure

  • Pioneer Format

Registration

  • Qualified Players will be Preregistered for this event.
  • Once Preregistered, players must complete the Registration process to participate in the event.
  • Registration for the Regional Championship closes one hour before the event.
  • Players who enter after the tournament has begun will be enrolled with a loss for their first round.
  • Players must have their Wizards Account Email in their Melee.gg profile in order to enroll.

Decklists

  • Decklists must be submitted through the Player Controller on Melee.gg.
  • Decklists are due at 6:00 PM EST October 4th.
  • Failure to submit a decklist on time will result in Tardiness penalties.

For paper printouts generated for this tournament, participants' names will be displayed using their full real names, irrespective of their profile's name display settings. This specification applies solely to printed materials.

To unenroll after you must contact the organizer.

Regional Championship tournaments will be run according to the Magic: the Gathering Tournament Rules.

Pairings

  • Pairings for the Regional Championships will be available in the Melee.gg Player Controller and on Paper in the event hall.
  • It is each player's sole responsibility to find their pairings and report to their matches for the beginning of each round of their events.

Matches

  • Rounds for the Regional Championships will be 50 minutes.
  • It is the responsibility of the winner of any given match to ensure that the result is reported and recorded correctly.
  • If either player notices a discrepancy between the result of the match and the reported match result, they must bring the error to the attention of a tournament official immediately.

Eligibility

  • Players must have accounts in good standing with Melee.gg and Star City Games.
  • Players must not be currently suspended from participating in Magic: The Gathering, Melee.gg, or Star City Games events.
  • Regional eligibility restrictions also apply, void where prohibited.

The organizer has agreed to pay out prizes in 60 days or less.

  • 1st: $20,000.00, World Championship Invitation, Pro Tour Invitation, Regional Championship Invitation
  • 2nd: $10,000.00, World Championship Invitation, Pro Tour Invitation, Regional Championship Invitation
  • Top 4: $8,000.00, Pro Tour Invitation, Regional Championship Invitation
  • Top 8: $4,000.00, Pro Tour Invitation, Regional Championship Invitation
  • Top 16: $2,500.00, Pro Tour Invitation, Regional Championship Invitation
  • Top 32: $1,500.00, Pro Tour Invitation, Regional Championship Invitation

  • Top 128: $125.00
