Play in a Best-of-three Standard swiss tournament, and the top 8 players will compete for the grand prize!
This event is Competetive REL, using the DMTR and DIPG, which can be found here: https://judgeacademy.com/policy-documents.
These rules "provide a similar infrastructure to the guidelines provided by the Tabletop MTR, but with a focus on digital tournaments" and MTG Arena.
Please remember outside assistance of any kind is strictly prohibited per these rules.
Event Date: January 9, 2021
Start Time: The tournament will begin at 9:00 AM PT. Registration closes an hour before the tournament fires, and decklists must be submitted before the first round.
Registration fee is $25. Registration closes an hour before the event. No late registrations will be allowed.
After you register, you will receive an invite to the Pinnacle Discord. You will need to be connected to both MTGMelee and Discord in order to participate in the tournament.
Decklists are required to be imported and submitted via your Player Controller prior to the beginning of the first round (9 AM PT). Failing to submit a decklist will result in a possible penalty. This is an open decklist tournament.
Pairings will be posted through MTGMelee and announced in the Pinnacle Discord. Many options for notification are available in the profile options of MTGMelee, but players are solely responsible for receiving their pairings and conducting their matches in a timely manner.
Each round, your MTGMelee Player Controller will update to display your "Current Pairing".
Players are required to "Check-in" to every round. Simply click the green button to check-in to your match.
Once you have received your pairing, use the Direct Challenge feature in MTG Arena (Crossed Swords in the top right) to challenge your opponent. Set up your match by selecting "Tournament Match", entering your opponent’s Direct Challenge ID (include the hashtag and five-digit number), and selecting the deck you've registered. Remember that MTG Arena user names are case sensitive.
Each round will be 50 minutes. If a player is 5 minutes late after the round timer has been started, they will receive a tardiness penalty. If that player has still not communicated with a judge via Discord before 10 minutes after the round has started, this will result in a match loss for the round. If a player fails to check in during the round, that player will be dropped from the tournament.
At the conclusion of your match, submit your results through the MTG Melee Player Controller. We recommend that you take a screen shot of your match result screen. If there are any discrepancies in the match results, an admin may ask you for this as proof of your result. Then submit the match results in your Player Controller.
Your match may be streamed as a feature match on Pinnacle's Twitch account. If you are selected to be on a feature match, you will be directed to join the appropriate channel on the Pinnacle Discord. After you join the channel, please use the screen share button to share your screen with tournament admin. No other players will have access to your screen, and the stream will be on a 30 minute delay. Participating in a feature match is optional; if you are selected and do not want to be featured, you may decline the administrator's invitation to stream.
